Tech Services offers weapon system development, engineering, analysis and test and evaluation for the Naval Surface Warfare Center community and industry. Our solutions services are divided into four offerings, and a fifth, free-standing operations center:
Analysis and Simulation The Analysis and Simulation Group performs development and improvement of models for analysis of the effectiveness of existing and new weapon systems. We use simulations and models to determine performance against selected threats to support Joint Technical Coordinating Group for Munitions Effectiveness. We also analyze target scenarios using Joint Gun Effectiveness Model. Our analyst staff collects engagement and subsystem data to establish scenario conditions along with gun and munitions information and provide this information in formats for comparison with other information. The group also provides support for Minor Caliber Gun development, testing and analysis. This includes hands-on support for the equipment along with development of test plans, analysis, and reports.
Large Gun Engineering This Group supports systems engineering for gun and weapons handling development of MK 45 Mods 1 and 4 weapons. Our personnel are members of Gun and Extended Range Guided Munitions (ERGM) Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and often serve as heads of these IPTs. Personnel provide hands-on gun support with active development of test plans, support of test data gathering, and analysis and development of test reports. We also support Advanced Technology Development projects for longer-range projectiles and projects such as Barrage Projectile and Best. Analysts support development of range safety documents, standard operating procedures, and test plans and procedures. This is also followed by data support and test report development.
Test Range Systems This Group develops program, range, safety, security, and test documentation. We prepare test plans, reports, and other documents. In addition, we provide hands-on gun, propellant, munitions, and missile assembly with ordnance certified technicians and perform physical preparations of test design at the Explosive Experimental Area (EEA) Pumpkin Neck at Dahlgren, VA. The Group provides sales and service for Gun Barrel Bore Gauges (BG-10/20) and also for the AGI Visual Camera Inspection Systems.
The U.S. Army TACOM (Tank Command) has tasked us to provide support for logistics and training for the AGI System BG-10 Gun Barrel Bore Gauge for wear measurement of the Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) gun barrel for which we support measurement and analysis of barrel conditions. Our personnel conduct diagnostic/trouble-shooting tests, as required, to determine the cause of defects and repair and/or replace any defective part(s) on BG-10 Gun Barrel Bore Gauges and the support software. We also help to develop scale models and rapid prototyping tasks conducted in support of G52 efforts.
Our analysts and engineers provide support to NSWCDD G60, Weapons Evaluation Division, for program management, technical preparation, range support, and associated tasks as required for gun, propellant and munitions test completion, missile assembly, disassembly, and instrumentation performance checks. This is done for Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS) Extended Range Guided Munitions (ERGM) and MK 45 Mod 4 Gun System and AEGIS Programs. The Group also provides support for Weapons Systems Test and Evaluation Services Support (G63) program management, photographic, video documentation, propellant and munitions test completion, and instrumentation support and performance checks. We support the development, integration, test, and analysis of Weapons Dynamics Branch (G64) as well. These efforts may involve physical preparations of test design and assistance with test procedures at the Explosive Experimental Area (EEA).
Test and Evaluation This Group supports the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Lethality and Weapons Effectiveness Branch, G24, to research potential improvements in performance of advanced weapons. This is accomplished through research, studies, test, and analysis of weapons performance and the effects on targets. We develop and deliver test plans, studies and technical reports, test support with data collection and data analysis, and detailed test reports. Our analysts and engineers support numerous analysis and modeling programs, develop impact studies of Energetic Materials Warheads, and Tactical Ballistic Missile Weapons of Mass Destruction, spearhead applied research efforts and conduct analysis to characterize and model the vulnerability of target components to non-nuclear weapons damage mechanisms including warhead fragment impacts and explosive blast overpressure for the STANDARD Missile-2 warhead and the STANDARD Missile-3 Kinetic Warhead, the Corporate Lethality Program, and the Evolved SEASPARROW Program. We plan, conduct, and document research, modeling, testing, and analysis of damage mechanism performance and compare the results with vulnerability and end-game model predictions.
Louisville Operations Experienced, highly trained technical personnel provide facilities management, logistics support, and marketing to contracts and procurement staff at Louisville. In support of our metro Louisville operations, we provide the management and control of the technical documentation at Louisville Technology Park including all facility, utility, and industrial plant equipment drawings and documentation as well as the management of the personal property.
Our Louisville office provides the technical services for Performance Based Logistics (PBL) establishment, expansion, and operation in the PHALANX program for Raytheon Systems Company. These services include assessment and investigation of operational problems for determination of reparability, with cost recommendations and developmental improvements. Our personnel have extensive experience with the PHALANX program, including a thorough knowledge of PBL principles, broad knowledge of PHALANX documentation as well as extensive industrial operations experience. Additionally, in support of Raytheon Systems Company, we provide consulting and management services to help in the development and expansion of the Raytheon Strategic Planning Program. Finally, we provide management and logistics support for the Decoy Launchings Systems including NULKA and the PHALANX CIWS as well as the 5" EX 45 MOD 4 Gun System. |
